ABOUT

Known as “the city of homes,” Huntington Woods is a family-oriented walkable community featuring single-family homes in a variety of architectural styles. With a total of less than 6,500 residents, this neighborhood offers an incredible wealth of opportunities for people of all ages to engage at the library, community center, and via programming by the parks and recreation departments.

DINING/SHOPPING

Given the focus on neighbors, family, and building community in the neighborhood itself, you’ll want to explore neighboring suburbs for a variety of options for eating, drinking, and shopping. Explore curated grocery and prepared food selections at Holiday Market in Royal Oak, or Westborn Market in Ferndale. If you don’t feel like cooking, dip into Ronin for sushi, try the taco of the month at Imperial, or take in pizza with a twist and live music at Otus Supply… and don’t forget to try Oprah’s favorite grilled cheese at Café Muse. No matter where you turn from Huntington Woods, you’ll find excellent options for whatever you’re craving.

Round off your experience with some shopping at Rail & Anchor or Pitaya. And visit the Rust Belt Market for a sense of artistry and creativity you won’t find anywhere else.

AROUND TOWN

Huntington Woods is virtually self-contained, with community-wide access to the community center and all the activities it offers. Residents will have pool privileges that encompass both the family and child friendly water features and the competitive swimming and diving area in this unique 2-in-1 pool. The community center, itself, offers services to elderly residents that cover minor home repairs and day trips to Detroit and nearby venues for art and socializing. Outside the community center, you can also play the Rackham Golf Course or visit the Detroit Zoo; both institutions are within easy walking distance of the neighborhood. And if you really want to support your community, join in the annual Run/Walk Boom! Fundraiser for the Huntington Woods Fourth of July Fireworks display.

EDUCATION

As part of the Berkeley school system, Huntington Woods enjoys some of the best quality education in Metro Detroit. Berkeley High School alone boasts a 96% graduation rate and sends hundreds of students to both the University of Michigan and Michigan State. The school system itself is ranked in the top 30 in Michigan overall, and specifically for college preparation and STEM education. For those who prefer private education, Huntington Woods is easily within reach of prestigious schools like the Roeper Institute, Detroit Country Day, and Cranbrook.

WHERE TO STAY

While you hunt for your new home, enjoy your nearby neighborhoods by staying at Hyatt Place Detroit/Royal Oak, just north of the Emagine theater on Main Street. Or venture a little further east to Hotel Royal Oak, located less than a mile from the vibrant downtown area filled with restaurants, shops, bars, and galleries. Home shoppers may enjoy these options, or any of the fabulous hotels located in downtown Detroit or Birmingham such as The Daxton, a modern adventure through art and food, boasting one of the most fabulous art collections in the area. For more traditional tastes, check into the Townsend, a Birmingham icon that still features afternoon tea on weekend days and serves American standards at the Rugby Grille. Detroit offers more hotel options, ranging from the boutique Shinola Hotel to the old favorite MGM Grand Hotel and Casino.
