ABOUT

The Bloomfields are also among the wealthiest areas in southeastern Oakland County, claiming many influential Metro Detroiters among their citizens and hosting some of the largest and most notable country clubs, houses of worship, and educational institutions in the region. Bloomfield Hills is a small city located in the middle of the larger Bloomfield Township. You can tell you are there by the black signage with gold lettering. They are located just northwest of Birmingham, giving them excellent access to it’s easily walkable downtown filled with shops, restaurants, and galleries, as well as Franklin’s quaint nostalgic charm. 

 

The Bloomfield Hills area boasts lush lawns and rolling drives that gently sweep in front of a variety of architectural homes ranging from traditional Craftsman and Colonial to modern airy spaces of wood and glass. Some homes and neighborhoods claim private beach front on the lakes that populate this region, and outdoor activities abound in both summer and winter seasons. Whether your activity of choice is swimming, skating, riding, tennis, golf, or something else, you will find your community here at one of Bloomfield Hills’ many refined and exclusive country clubs like the Bloomfield Open Hunt Club, Bloomfield Hills Country Club, Oakland Hills Country Club or Birmingham Racquet Club to name a few.

 

 

DINING/SHOPPING

Delight in one of the wonderful options in Bloomfield Hills. Joe Muers is a Metro-Detroit staple for seafood, while Bills or Zalman’s feature a fresh twist on bistro and delicatessen. The surrounding Bloomfield Township is home to a wide range of dining, including the staple Coney Island and Greek salads. Leo’s and Honey Tree are renowned in the area for their homemade Greek dressings while Cafe ML and Beau’s continue the tradition of the upscale brasserie. 

 

Gourmet markets are a particular feature of the area. Plum features a well-curated array of fresh produce, gourmet traiteur, locally made snacks and healthy options. Nino Salvaggio is another option and is located near to the coveted Trader Joe’s

 

There are also some wonderful independently owned local shops you won’t want to miss. SHE is the place to be for upscale womenswear while Rear Ends has you covered for jeans and casual wear. For just plain FUN, don’t miss Perfect Trading. They specialize in everything from ‘tween clothing & accessories to full service screen-printing to summer camp supplies. For elegants tabletop and linens, Touch of Lace offers only the créme de la créme.

 

 

AROUND TOWN

Developing around the internationally acclaimed Cranbrook Educational Community, Art and Science museums, and surrounding gardens are not to be missed. The Maple Theater has been the home to art cinema in Oakland County for many decades. Bloomfield Township has one of the best municipal libraries in the area, as well as many educational opportunities offered through their public school system. 

 

 

EDUCATION

Bloomfield Hills Public Schools serves most of the Bloomfields but some smaller pockets are served by Birmingham Public Schools. This outstanding educational community is one of the most highly respected in the area, ranking in the top 10 on Niche for both Best School District and Safest School District. Prestigious private schools like the Roeper Institute, Detroit Country Day, and Cranbrook are also easily within reach.

 

 

WHERE TO STAY

While you search for your new home, stay in the recently refurbished The Kingsley Bloomfield Hills or venture to nearby Birmingham to avail of one of our luxury hotels. The Daxton, newly built, is a modern adventure through art and food, boasting one of the most fabulous art collections in the area.
